Carbonite is a safe & simple online PC backup service for home users and business travelers.  Color dots are placed on your selected files and folders  so that you can easily determine what their status is.  

To use Carbonite you’ll need to install a small application onto your computer that will run in the background looking for new and changed files to backup.  The data is then encrypted twice before getting sent to their data centers.  Files remain encrypted so that only you can see them.

By default, Carbonite backs up everything under your profile in the Documents and Settings folder.   This includes documents, photos, email and data files from applications.  You can manually add additional files to be included in the backup. When your computer is idle, Carbonite automatically backs up your new and changed files.

Carbonite only offers annual subscriptions with unlimited storage space.  The pricing for their services are:

• 1 year subscription:  $54.95
• 2 year subscription:  $99.95
• 3 year subscription:  $129.95

To restore files simply go through their desktop application to retrieve the files you need.   If your computer is not accessible, you can recover your data by logging into the Carbonite website to downloading your files.
